Should Chisora circumvent the ban and move to the U.S?

Image: Should Chisora circumvent the ban and move to the U.S?By Scott Gilfoid: Earlier today the British Boxing Board of Control came down with one of those weird bans where you don’t when it’ll end when they took away Dereck Chisora’s boxing license to fight in the UK because of his behavior leading up to and after his fight with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last month. His boxing license is now revoked as as of today for an indefinite period of time.

Although Chisora can appeal the decision in the next 14 days, you know how things go. It’ll likely be a waste of time for him. Since Chisora doesn’t have time to just sit around and wait on when and if the British Boxing Board of Control will eventually left him fight again – if they ever do – he really needs to cut his loses and move his operations over to the United States and pronto. If the U.S will give him a boxing license, and that’s a big if, he might do well there.

I wouldn’t waste time if I was him waiting on the BBBofC to change their mind and give him back his boxing license. I don’t think that’ll happen. Chisora needs to move in light speed to get over to the U.S and start fighting as soon as humanly possible before he loses his skills through rust and inactivity. I’m sure the BBBofC might not like Chisora circumventing their ban, but they’re not the ones whose livelihood will be taken away.

If I have my boxing license taken away without a time frame for when I could get it back, I would be moving out of the UK for greener pastures. Not having an end date is like a signal that it’s time to move on. The problem Chisora will have is getting a boxing license from the fight country, as in the United States. His second problem will be all the hard work involved with building a fan base. He’ll be starting from zero and working his way up. Chisora’s gimmicks such as kissing his opponent, biting his opponent, slapping them, and spiting water in their faces won’t work in America. Chisora will end up losing his license in the U.S as well if he pulls those tricks. Chisora needs to look good in the ring and stop depending on fluff to try and impress. He’s doing it the opposite way around. Instead of having great skills and looking good in the ring, he’s ending up with poor results losing three out of his last four fights and spending too much time trying to scare or shock his opponents into trying to gain an edge. It doesn’t work as we’ve seen. Chisora needs to focus on being professional and winning without the nonsense. It just makes him look silly when he can’t back it up in the ring.
