Image: Pacquiao loses to Bradley if he tries to box himBy Chris Williams: In a recent interview WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao revealed that he was going to try and box challenger Timothy Bradley on June 9th in their fight in Vegas. Let me say this fight now that if Pacquiao tries to box the 28-year-old Bradley, then he’ll end up getting clowned by him big time. Pacquiao doesn’t have the boxing skills needed for him to beat Bradley by boxing him.

Pacquiao is too predictable with his left-right-left three punch combination that he likes to throw before jumping away to the outside before starting over again. Despite supposedly having the best trainer in all of boxing, Pacquiao makes a lot of mistakes in the ring and is utterly predictable. There’s no guesswork involved for Bradley to figure him out. But the only way Pacquiao can maybe beat Bradley is if he stands in front of him and just wails on Bradley with everything he’s got. That’s the only way Pacquiao can beat Bradley.

Roach is probably going to come up with some complicated game plan for Pacquiao to use on June 9th, but I see it only confusing him. If Roach has Pacquiao running around the ring trying to peck his way to a decision, it’s going to be an easy night for Bradley because he can beat that style easily. Roach is going to have to come up with something better than that if he doesn’t want to see his No.1 fighter get beaten by Bradley in front of a huge pay per view audience.

Pacquaio will look like he’s painting by the numbers if he tries to follow Roach’s instructions to box Bradley. Pacquiao isn’t a boxer, although he sure does need to learn how to box in order to lengthen his career. But he’s not going to outbox a quality fighter like Bradley, because that’s his game. Pacquiao has got to do what brought him this far and that’s to slug it out. He’s got to try and overwhelm Bradley with punches and hope he doesn’t end up getting beaten up by the bigger, stronger Bradley.
