Image: Hearn looking to deliver a top name for Kell Brook to fight on July 7thBy William Mackay: Having just finished putting unbeaten welterweight contender in with fringe contender Matthew Hatton for yet another easy win for Brook, Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Brook, says he’s ready to find another “Top name” to put in with Brook in his next fight on July 7th in at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK.

Excuse but I never saw Matthew Hatton as a big name, so I’m kind of curious to see who the next so-called big name is for the 25-year-old Brook to fight. I guess I have different ideas of what is considered a big name because I never saw Matthew Hatton as being anything close to being a big name.

Hearn has already mentioned the following fighters that he wants to try and lure over to the UK to take the fight with Brook: Marcos Maidana, Paulie Malignaggi, and Shane Mosley. He’s not likely to get any of those guys over to the UK to fight Brook unless Hearn is willing to offer some serious money.

I’m sure all of them would take the fight if Hearn offered them a ton of money, but I think it will be a real problems trying to scratch up enough cash to keep both Brook and his big named opponent happy. Malignaggi and Maidana are totally flawed and really not what I consider legitimate welterweights. Maidana just got whipped by Devon Alexander last month in a one-sided loss and he’s heading back to 140 to defend his WBA light welterweight title.

Maidana doesn’t need to move back up to a division that he’s already he can’t fight in. Malignaggi has fought nothing but 2nd tier welterweights since moving up in weight in 2010. He’s going to get beaten by WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko next month and he can ill afford to follow that loss with a fight against Brook. Mosley won’t take the fight unless he’s offered huge money and I frankly doubt that Hearn will be able to come up with enough cash to pay him.
