Froch won’t last long against Bute’s uppercuts

Image: Froch won't last long against Bute's uppercutsBy Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24 KO’s) will be facing someone who is absolutely tailor made to eat his huge uppercuts in Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) on May 26th in their fight at the Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, UK.

This is probably going to go really bad for Froch, and I imagine it would have been a lot better had it been an away fight instead of in front of his home fans. I guess it’s good if it goes to the card, because Froch could win another highly questionable decision over there. But I don’t see this fight going to the cards because Froch’s chin is going to be begging to be hit by Bute’s huge uppercuts on May 26th.

I don’t think much of Bute as a fighter. He’s decent and is probably the fourth best fighter in the division right now, but I do give it to him that he can punch well to the body and he can throw a mean uppercut when he’s facing someone who has no clue how to block or dodge them. Bute is incredibly vulnerable when he throws his uppercuts because he dips before he throws them every time and it telegraphs them in a huge way.

A good fighter like Andre Dirrell, Ward or Anthony Dirrell would nail Bute with a straight right hand every time he dips to throw one of his uppercuts. I can see Bute getting knocked cold by those fighters when he goes uppercut happy. But I don’t think Froch will be able to read Bute to tell when he’s about to throw these shots. It really shouldn’t be that hard because Bute is like someone who has learned a new trick and plays the trick over and over again. If Froch studies him, he may figure him out but I don’t think he will. This is why I see Froch getting knocked cold on May 26th in front of his own fans.
