This is a big upgrade from where the fight was originally planned to take place at the 10,000 seat Trent Arena in Nottingham.

The fight was pulled out of that venue after Hearn noted that there was a high demand for tickets to the Bute-Froch fight that would quickly sell out the 10,000 seat Trent Arena. In order to sell as many tickets as possible and to let as many boxing fans get a chance to see the fight, Hearn is looking for a big football stadium in Nottingham to house the fight and right now the 20,000 seat Meadow Lane is looking like it’s going to be the final destination for the fight.

It’s surprising that there is this much interest in seeing one of Froch’s fights by his fans, because after all, Froch has lost two out of his last four fights and a lot of boxing fans think he/s lost three out of his last five fights due to Froch’s questionable 12 round split decision over Andre Dirrell in October 2009.

20,000 would be a huge number if Froch-Bute can sell out the Meadow Lane Stadium because Bute was thought to be the big ticket seller with his usual 10,000 fans that pack to see him fight in Montreal, Canada. But Froch fighting in front of 20,000 fans in Nottingham would double Bute’s numbers.
