Froch told Sky Sports News “Hopefully I’m fighting Lucian Bute on May 26th. We’re still waiting to secure a deal with Interbox, which is his promoter, to try and get him over. I’m hearing [Andre’ Ward’s vacating his WBC title and Andre’s brother Anthony Dirrell is the mandatory for the WBC. We’re #1 and #2 or #2 or #3 respectively for the WBC. So, that fight could potentially happen, but I think we’re close to doing the deal with Lucian Bute. He’s come to the social network [twitter] saying publically that he will come to the UK to fight me. Hopefully, he stands by that and comes over. [In] Late may, fans could be in for a treat for a world title fight.”

Froch has got it bad no matter which way he turns. If he fights Bute next, then he’ll lose that fight no matter where it takes place. Bute is all wrong for him and has a style that does well against the Froch-type of fighters. And if Froch can’t get the fight with Bute and has to settle for the talented #1 WBC contender Anthony Dirrell (24-0, 21 KO’s), then that will be even worse for him. Dirrell has better hand speed, better defensive skills and better power than Bute. Froch would get beat in front of his own fans in Nottingham if Dirrell comes over. He already said he wants to avenge his brother Andre’s loss to Froch, and this will give him the perfect opportunity to do so if Bute doesn’t get to Froch first to take him out.
