Image: Bradley could become a star with Pacquiao fightBy Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum isn’t even bothering to let the Timothy Bradley vs. Manny Pacquiao fight marinate like he does with most of his fights. He’s rushing Bradley, a fighter with no fan base to speak of, straight into a fight with Pacquiao after only one fight with Top Rank.

Right after Arum signed Bradley, he had fight 40-year-old Joel Casamayor in an incredibly poor match-up to the extreme, and now off of that one performance, Arum is rushing Bradley into the Pacquiao fight. Given that there’s absolutely no marinating going on with this fight it tells you that Arum is probably using Pacquiao to make Bradley a bigger asset to Top Rank by putting him in with Pacquiao.

With all the publicity this fight will get and with the millions of boxing fans that will be watching it around the world in one way or another, Bradley will become recognized fighter.

As long as Bradley doesn’t stink up the joint like Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito and Joshua Clottey, he’ll probably emerge from this fight as a bigger asset for Arum to use to make better money off in the future. It’s like Pacquiao is the midis wand and what he touches becomes gold.

Like I said, it doesn’t always work when the fighter stinks up the joint. Bradley will likely be still kicking long after Pacquiao retires and Arum moves onto his reward. So this is going to be a fight that will really help Bradley, not only with getting a nice $5 million payday, but could also help him long term if he fights well enough. And Arum will be helped too if Bradley does well.

After this, Arum will likely soon match Pacquiao up with another one of his obscure fighters Mike Jones in what will be another Pacquiao midis job. Like the Bradley fight, there’s no reason on earth for Arum to be matching a guy that has no fan base with Pacquiao, but the move well help Top Rank and Arum by Pacquiao increasing the worth of Jones if he can fight decent enough.
