Image: Who doubts that Mayweather junior is in a class of his own?By Babatis Banda: If you have doubts about WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. being in a class of his own, then you are either a fan of a fighter that has already been obliterated by Mayweather or of cause, an ardent fan of the Manny Pacquiao or indeed you have issues that have nothing to do with boxing and you are probably, just a bitter hater of the man.

Please, ensure that you read through this article to the end, it may just be your salvation, hate is a disease.

It is not difficult to see that Floyd is a rare breed in this sport and reasons are irrefutable and are there for all to see. What Floyd brings to the plate is so different from the rest. He brings finesse, intelligence and discipline. The reason is simply that Floyd combines all aspects of the boxing art to adjust to any situation. In fact, Floyd has not a single way of approaching different fighters and styles, he is simply amazing……….. he adapts.
I would not be exaggerating anything if I say, Floyd’s win over Ortiz was a walk in the park. Yes it was, not because of what bitter individuals have called a ‘cheap shot’, but it was there to see right from round one. If you hold anything against Floyd in the Ortiz fight, you ought to realize that you firmly fit into either a sadist, or a deeply hurt individual, or normal reasoning has just vacated your thinking. Boxing is not a picnic especially that Ortiz chose to cause serious bodily damage to Floyd using dirty tactics. I will leave it at that though there is surely a lot to say.

The Cotto bout will not be any different from the Ortiz fight. Floyd will use the first few rounds to size and feel-out Cotto and take out his wind. Now, hear this. It will be a big mistake if Cotto fights Floyd with respect, it will limit what he can do. Again, it will be suicide for Cotto not to show any respect to Floyd for he will end up mopping the floor. For sure, if Cotto gets reckless, he will get down to the canvas. This is what is known as a ‘NO WIN’ situation, and mark my words this is what it is. Ordinary fighters bring power and determination to the table, and when they can’t deliver their power, they are in trouble. Floyd brings a piece of every relevant aspect of the sport and he will only be in trouble the moment his body starts to shut-out due to age. I am sure he is smart enough to retire before that happens.

You just have to recognize that Floyd is the freshest of them all. He never creates wars. He is smart and holds his lectures in a cool and composed manner doing enough to overwhelm or subdue, without having to break sweat. He is undefeated and you may point out that there are also a number of fighters that hold a zero record. Yes, that is true, but the class is different, he belongs to a class of his own and he creates his standards. Who else has a zero record and is as famous as Floyd and is as marketable as Floyd and is making as much money as Floyd and is hated as much as Floyd? There you have it, and that draws the line!

Pacquiao versus Mayweather when it happens will be like Mayweather versus Arturo Gatti. There is a similar atmosphere to this fight. Mark my words, Manny will be dominated with mean intentions and will be hurt. I say when it happens, because it will. Soon Arum and Manny will run out of meaningful options and Arum can’t let go of big money just like that. Remember this article, just like you should have remembered the one I wrote before the Ortiz fight, and it came out exactly that way.

It does not hurt to recognize that Floyd is a phenomenon like no other, he belongs to a class of his own!
