Image: Brook won't get a great opponent for December 17th fightBy Sean McDaniel: Kell Brook (25-0, 17 KO’s) says he wants to fight Andre Berto or Amir Khan for his next fight but he’s going to have to settle for much less than that if his promoter Eddie Hearn can squeeze him on the undercard of the Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch fight on December 17th in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Brook defeated Rafael Jaciewicz (38-10-1, 19 KO’s) by a 6th round TKO last night.

Berto is already scheduled to defend his title against Randall Bailey, and Khan has a fight coming up against Lamont Peterson on December 10th, so both of those guys are out.

Brook said this after his win after his fight with Jackiewicz: “Yeah, I want it [a fight with Khan]. He doesn’t want me. We know that we’ve got his number. It’s a matter of time. I keep beating what Eddie puts in front of me and it’s got to happen. The public wants it. They’re going to demand it and I think it’s going to happen next year.”

It’s probably not going to happen next year, because Khan already has tipped his hand to what his plans are after his fight with Peterson in December. Khan says he wants to fight Matthew Hatton, and after that Khan is hoping Floyd Mayweather Jr. will show interest in fighting him.

Who knows what Khan will do if Mayweather ignores him like he’s been doing. Khan probably still won’t fight Brook at that time, because there are a couple of options still available to him that doesn’t present Khan with much risk of any kind.

Khan can fight 40-year-old Shane Mosley for a big payday fight. Mosley has a recognizable name and it would give Khan his biggest fight of his career in terms of facing a name fighter that boxing fans have heard of. Khan might also go after the WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko.
