Image: Ward's cut is a nasty one: You could drive a truck through that openingBy Scott Gilfoid: Photo credit: Fight Camp 360/Showtime – Former doubters of WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward about the cut that he suffered in sparring last week while getting ready for his Super Six tournament finals bout against WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch, you can now see for yourself Ward’s cut. Just look at that gaping hole.

Do you honestly think that a cut that size would be healed up by October 29th? That’s what Froch was saying, and it’s so sad that Froch would want an opponent of his to fight him with a cut that would rip open after the first few times he hits Ward. It’s not that Froch is going to be landing that much against Ward, but he surely hit him a few times in every round.

But if Ward has to battle blood dripping into his eyes from a serious, then how in the heck is he supposed to fight Froch? I know Ward’s warrior, but he shouldn’t have to battle the blood and Froch at the same time. I have no worries that Ward could do it, but the chances would be high that the ringside doctor would step in at some point and halt the fight, giving Froch a chance to win it on a cut stoppage.

This is why I think they rescheduled date of December 17th is even too soon for Froch and Ward to be fighting. For a cut that size, Ward needs at least six good months for the cut to heal and the skin over it to toughen up. I mean, it will never be like regular skin.

Once you get cut, the skin that forms over the cut is like baby skin and not the tough skin that was once there. But you need time for it to get at least somewhat close to the kind of skin around his eye that Ward had prior to the cut. We can’t be giving Froch any advantages in this fight.
