Image: Ward: When I beat Froch, I don't want to hear any excuses from himBy Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (24-0, 13 KO’s) says there won’t be any excuses from his sides about his eye injury should he lose to WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KO’s) in their Super Six tournament finals bout, which could take place in early December.

Ward says he hopes Froch doesn’t make any excuses himself when he beaten. Don’t count on that, Andre. I can see some excuses already brewing.

Ward said this in an interview at RingTV: “The name of this fight should be ‘No excuses.’ Because if Carl Froch beats me, there will be no excuses from my side. I won’t blame the eye or anything. But when I beat Carl Froch, I expect the same from his side as well.”

Are you kidding? I can see excuses flying left and right from Froch. It’ll likely be this or that or some other thing that prevented the win. But first of all, I can’t see him accepting the loss. We’ll probably see Froch pulling the same bit that he did after he got beat by Mikkel Kessler last year where Froch says he should have been given the decision. I’d be incredibly surprised to the point of shock if Froch acknowledged that he was beaten by the better man in Ward and bowed down to his greatness. That I don’t see happening. I see excuses from Froch, and no acceptance of the decision that runs counter to his own opinion of how the fight went.

Ward said this about Froch being skeptical about his eye injury: “Nobody questioned Froch when he pulled up with a mysterious back injury in the middle of training for the Arthur Abraham fight. Some people believe that he did it just to get a new venue and the site changed.”

I totally agree with Mr. Ward. I had forgotten completely about the back injury delay. God, how could I have forgotten that gem?
