McKenna (McJack): Now that HBO has been selected to air the showdown between World Boxing Organization (WBO) Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao (53-2-2, 38 KO’s) and WBO/WBA/Ring Lightweight Champion Juan Manuel Marquez (53-5-1, 39 KO’s) all the stops are going to be pulled out to promote the fight. Top Rank CEO Bob Arum and his stepson and President of Top Rank Todd Duboef are confident that the Pacquiao – Marquez fight will exceed Pay Per View (PPV) expectations.

Duboef stated in the Manila Bulletin “There is going to be a lot of stuff. We will use different types of platforms. It’s going to be a complete 360 degree campaign.”

Duboef noted that the award winning 24/7 series would be returning to document every move of Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez during the lead up to their Trilogy on November 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Top Rank believes that Pacquiao’s ever increasing popularity all over the world will be crucial in driving up the PPV numbers for the Trilogy fight with Marquez.
“We are going to be very big. Manny is a global star,” added Duboef.

Pacquiao drew 1.25 million PPV buys in his December 2008 bout with Oscar De La Hoya. His fight with Shane Mosley in May drew 1.3 million buys.

Top Rank has arranged appearances on CNN for Pacquiao in a further effort to hype the Marquez fight.

Pacquiao and Marquez fought to a controversial draw in 2004 and Manny won a razor thin decision in 2008 which was also controversial, hence the necessity for a third contest. In the time since his previous fights with Marquez, Pacquiao has added weight by putting on muscle and is favored to win in November.

Marquez and his trainer “Nacho” Beristain feel that he (Marquez) won both of their previous encounters and are looking forward with anticipation to settle the score with Pacquiao on November 12.

Pacquiao along with trainer Freddie Roach are both convinced that this time there will be no doubt as to the winner and that Manny will win in impressive fashion.

There had been an ongoing bidding war between HBO and Showtime as to who was going to air the Pacquiao – Marquez fight. Showtime aired the Pacquiao – Mosley fight in May. There is no word as of yet as to whether Showtime’s airing of the Pacquiao – Mosley fight was a one time deal.
