Adamek will find it hard to survive against Klitschko

By Dan Ambrose: It’s always bad when you’ve got a fighter like #1 ranked World Boxing Council heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) going into a fight against a major power but without any prior experience anywhere close to what he’ll be facing against the 6’7″ WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s).

This fight is something of a joke, because Adamek has used the following fighters to get ready for Vitali: Michael Grant, 38, Vinny Maddalone, 36, and Kevin McBride, 38. Although all three of them are technically younger than the 40-year-old Vitali, none of them are anywhere close to being as good as him. Adamek had a close call with Grant when the big 6’7″ Grant finally opened up with a handful of power shots in the 12th round and had Adamek hurt.

That was all Grant did in the entire fight. He mostly just stood around blocking shots and doing zero. It was great matchmaking by Adamek’s team to pick out a fighter that wouldn’t and/or couldn’t fight much, but it sure must have scared some of them when Grant briefly came alive for a second in the 12th and final rounds. But can you imagine what Vitali do with Adamek. Unless he decides to carry him for 10 or 11 rounds in order to stretch out the fight for the boxing fans at ringside and at home, Vitali is going to be laying into Adamek with huge shots in every round of the fight. Since Adamek has shown to get hurt when he gets hit solid in his fights against Grant and Chris Arreola, it doesn’t look good for Adamek.

It’s pretty much been a complete waste of time for Adamek to have taken these fighters other than being helpful for him to get three easy paydays without much danger of getting beaten before the Vitali payday fight at the Stadion Miejski, Wroclaw, Poland.
