Adamek thinks Vitali is vulnerable now

Image: Adamek thinks Vitali is vulnerable nowBy Dan Ambrose: Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) thinks he’s picked the right moment to fight for a title against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s). Adamek faces the 40-year-old Vitali on September 10th at the Stadion Miejski, Wroclaw, Poland.

Adamek is getting a fairly ripe Vitali but not one that has shown enough of a decline for a small heavyweight like Adamek unfortunately. For Adamek to win, Vitali would likely have to be closer to 50 in my estimation. By then, Vitali would be slow enough for Adamek to have a slight chance of winning. However, the problem is even if Vitali were still fighting at that point, Adamek would also be a lot older and no better off than he is now.

As such, there’s nothing Adamek can do to beat Vitali. He’s better off looking towards the winner of tonight’s fight against Ruslan Chagaev and Alexander Povetkin for the vacant WBA heavyweight paper title if Adamek wants to try and capture a heavyweight belt. However, he won’t be desirable opponent for either of them once he gets beaten by Vitali.

Adamek will have to get at least two or likely three good wins under his belt before he’s given consideration for a fight against either Povetkin or Chagaev. They won’t want to face a guy coming off of a one-sided loss to Vitali because the interest won’t be there.

Vitali isn’t vulnerable enough for a guy with limited size, speed and power like Adamek to beat. I see Adamek as someone that would struggle badly with Povetkin and Chagaev. That’s a closer to his talent level. Vitali is just way too good for him and it’s going to be apparent as soon as the fight starts. And Vitali’s brother, IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, would beat Adamek so easily that it wouldn’t be sporting.
