Vitali must destroy Adamek to get fans interested in a Haye bout

By Dan Ambrose: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) would like nothing better than to take on former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye before the end of the year after Vitali dispatches Polish challenger Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28 KO’s) on September 10th in Poland.

A fight against Haye is a much better fight compared to the Adamek bout, which has failed to interest boxing fans outside of Germany and Poland. Fans see it for it is, a mismatch. Adamek has none of the hand speed, explosive power, defense or the ability to hype a fight that Haye brings to the table.

As such, the Vitali-Adamek fight is putting fans to sleep even before the first punch has been thrown. It wouldn’t be that way if Adamek had gone out and proven that he belongs in the same ring with Vitali by taking on and beating some of the best contenders in the division instead of facing a handful of old timers in going through the backdoor to get a shot against Vitali.

Because of that, fans just don’t see Adamek as a threat to Vitali. But Vitali is going to have to not only beat Adamek, he’s going to have to destroy him to keep fans interested in seeing Vitali fight Haye. At the same time, Vitali has to destroy Adamek in such devastating manner that it will cause Haye to show interest in wanting to fight Vitali.

What’s good about the Vitali-Adamek fight is that Adamek is so badly overmatched in this fight that he’s going to fold as soon as Vitali puts any real pressure on him. This is a good thing and hopefully doesn’t carry Adamek like he did Alberto Sosnowski to get rounds in for the boxing fans to have something to watch. Vitali has to put Adamek out of his misery as soon as possible so that Vitali can get the fans demanding the Haye fight. They already saw Wladimir Klitschko work Haye over, and now its’ Vitali’s turn.
