Bad week for Floyd Mayweather

By John F. McKenna (McJack): This past week has been a bad one for Floyd “Money” Mayweather (41-0, 25 KO’s). With Floyd on a promotional tour to hype his September 17 fight with Victor “Vicious” Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO’s) the name of Manny Pacquiao keeps coming up at every press conference.

Floyd is seemingly content with the realization that Manny’s name is going to continue to come up at press conferences. Mayweather no longer attempts to keep the topic on Victor Ortiz and is willing to answer questions about his Filipino arch rival Manny Pacquiao.

It was reported in OPPOSING VIEWS that Mayweather was told by Shane Mosley that Floyd was right in demanding a performance enhancing drug test (PEDS). In the process of his explanation Mayweather said that Mosley wished that he had insisted on a more stringent drug test with Pacquiao. This is the same Shane Mosley who had begged his corner to stop his fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Quite clearly Mayweather is again insinuating that Manny Pacquiao is using PEDS by dropping the name of Shane Mosley into the mix. This is the same Floyd Mayweather making these claims who just last week said that he never accused Manny Pacquiao of cheating by using PEDS.

Mayweather also accused Bob Arum and Top Rank Promotions of attempting to stay relevant by “piggybacking” off of his name.

“Money” is making it increasingly difficult to root for him. First, after a year of suggesting the exact opposite, he said that he never accused Manny of taking PEDS.

Now, yet again he is backtracking and making the same accusation.

Floyd can’t seem to keep his story straight when talking to reporters, who are dogging him every step of the way on his promotional tour. The issue of Manny Pacquiao is not going to go away.

In addition the courts have once again ruled against Mayweather with regard to the deposition he has been ordered to give in the defamation lawsuit brought against him by Manny Pacquiao. There is a clear indication that Pacquiao is serious about the defamation lawsuit he has brought against Floyd Mayweather, based on the top of the line law firm he retained.

The coming weeks are not likely to be any better than this past week was for Floyd Mayweather. Neither the courts nor Manny Pacquiao’s legal team are going to back off. In addition, reporters and fans will continue to ask him why he is not fighting Manny Pacquiao
