Pacquiao surprise tailor-made for Mosley

Image: Pacquiao surprise tailor-made for MosleyBy The Fist and the Furious: Get ready to witness greatness getting even greater. Manny Pacquiao by KO/TKO, round 7, on May 7th. Shane Mosley’s left eye will be shut closed, just like Antonio Margarito’s. Meanwhile according to Floyd Mayweather Jr., he will be watching Lady Gaga on HBO Saturday night, further suggesting that Mayweather Jr. doesn’t give a hoot about boxing. He doesn’t care about his fans, just himself. Good for him.

And now to the more important business at hand:

Three things to watch out for in the first three rounds:

1) Mosley will be trying to dictate tempo by being the aggressor. Mosley firmly believes that he is the bigger and stronger man, and because of his confidence he will come out strong and try to take it right to Pacquiao. This plays into Pacquiao’s hands because of what he’s been working on intently during this particular training camp. Shane will find out by Round 3 that Manny cannot and will not be bullied.

2) It will be evident right away that Pacquiao is connecting on Mosley BY NOT BEING THE AGGRESSOR BUT BY BEING THE COUNTERPUNCHER. This will be Manny’s strategy. While everyone thinks that Pacquiao will try to engage and go toe-to-toe with Mosley, Manny will instead use his impeccable timing and reflexes to counter Shane similar to what Floyd Joy did last year. People will be shocked. But Manny knows that what Floyd can do, he can do better. It’s been proven in the past, and will be proven again on May 7.

3) Pac’s points will come from “timed” shots, his normal combinations in display, but his punch output will be lower than normal because of the counter-punching technique he’ll be employing, which is something nobody ever thought he had in his repertoire. Pac likes to feel out his opponent and test their strength during the early rounds. Mosley will try to attack Pac in every way, but Pac’s swift feet, lateral movement, and ability to sidestep and counter in the blink of an eye will confuse Mosley.

Middle Rounds:

1) Mosley won’t be tired, but you will see him start to grab, clutch, and hold every time Manny comes in with lightning combos. Mosley will still be able to hit Pacquiao, but Shane’s counter shots will be limited to single punches, not punches in bunches…all because of Pacquiao’s mobility and uncanny reflexes with his feet.

2) Shane’s tap jabs won’t be working either because all he is doing is telegraphing his punches. Pacquiao is too smart for this, and as always his feet will allow him to control range and distance.

3) The punch that Pac will hurt Shane with will be a straight left followed by a right hook, and a left uppercut right between the eyes. Picture this: Shane has a tendency to keep his left hand down. As he attempts a right hand punch, Pacquiao eludes it by sidestepping to Shane’s left side WHILE AT THE SAME TIME throwing a straight left to Mosley’s head. Before Shane can even blink, a right hook from Pacquiao follows, then a left, leaving Mosley dazed and confused.

4). By rounds 5 and 6 it becomes clear that Shane is breathing through his mouth. Shane’s core has weakened. Once Pacquiao sees this, he transforms and adjusts his style from counterpunching to being the aggressor. By this time, Shane is so confused by Pacquiao’s constant movement that he won’t know what’s coming next. Will Pac counterpunch? Or will Pac be on the offensive? It will be like watching Bruce Lee in full display. Lee’s mantra has always been to utilize the offensive in order to dictate tempo and control a fight. This is Pacquiao’s specialty. This is the Pacquiao Express. Simply put, his offense is his defense. And the reason why is because his offense is so strong and multifaceted that his opponent gets too discouraged, too distracted, and too tentative to even fight back.

5) As Pacquiao increases the offensive by the middle rounds, he unleashes his new weapon designed to attack hard hitting punchers who have strong chins – a short, precise semi-hook, semi-uppercut that he can use with both hands. Ever seen a one-two uppercut-uppercut combination? If not, just watch how Pacquiao does it. And pay extremely close attention to the replays and how he BUILDS TORQUE by using his hips when he punches. Ever wonder how Manny generates so much damage with his punches? It’s all in the hips.

6) By Round 7, Shane has felt Pacquiao’s speed, swiftness, accuracy, power, and elusiveness. By Round 7, Pacquiao has tasted Shane’s power but has done enough to withstand any kind of pressure because he is simply TOO LIGHT ON HIS TOES. By Round 7, Shane will be KO’d cold because not only is his left eye closed, but he’s also breathing from his mouth, he’s been hit from all directions, and he just can’t keep up with THE FIST AND THE FURIOUS.

”It’s an opportunity to show people I’m not washed up,” Mosley said last night. ”My legs are good. They’re strong and ready to go. You don’t lose your power. They say you lose your speed, but I haven’t lost my speed either.”

So there you go, fight fans. According to Mosley, he still has it and he’s not “shot”, contrary to popular belief. You heard it from the man himself. It’s clear that Shane hasn’t over-trained himself like he did before he faced Floyd Joy after having trained to fight Andre Berto.

After Pacquiao wins this fight, there shouldn’t be any more excuses that Mosley is “shot” or “old”. Because according to Mosley, there are no excuses. He has said he hasn’t felt this good for years. And most importantly, he has said that he will knock out Manny. That clearly tells me Shane believes he is the better fighter.

Win, lose, or draw…there shall be ZERO EXCUSES. And that’s for all boxing fans, Pacman fans, and Pacman haters alike.
