Khan and his promoter Richard Schaefer from Golden Boy Promotions will now start looking at other options, such as Zab Judah, Robert Guerrero, a rematch with Marcos Maidana or Erik Morales.

A fight between Judah and Khan looks to be a strong possibility, though, because Judah is available for July and is the current IBF light welterweight title. More than the other possible candidates, Judah fits the requirements that Khan is looking for in an opponent. Besides that, Judah is well known and fairly popular with boxing fans. And more importantly, Judah is interested.

This is what Judah had to say about fighting Khan in an article by Rafael as ESPN: “Definitely, that would be a great fight. He’s a young kid and I’ve been around, but I am still one of the best fighters in the world and want to fight any of the big fights at 140 pounds. Let’s do it.”

Judah, 34, was hoping to get a fight against Juan Manuel Marquez next. However, it’s looking like Marquez will be fighting a tune-up against someone else and then taking on Manny Pacquiao for a third fight between them at the end of the year, provided that Pacquiao beats Shane Mosley this Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Judah can punch and would be a dangerous fight for Khan. However, Judah doesn’t throw a lot of punches in his fights now that he’s starting to get older and is beatable as long as he doesn’t hit Khan with one of his uppercuts. If Judah connects with an uppercut at any point in the fight, it’s over for Khan. Judah is lethal with his uppercut.
