Mosley says his pure power will nullify Pacquiao’s offense

By Chris Williams: With few boxing fans giving 39-year-old Shane Mosley much of a chance against Manny Pacquiao in their upcoming fight next month on May 7th at the now sold out MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada, Mosley thinks he’s got the secret to beat Pacquiao and take his WBO welterweight title. Shane said “I know how difficult this fight is. Pacquiao fires punches from all kinds of angles, is on his toes during late rounds and gives you different looks. But pure power can take over all of that. I know I will be able to get good hard punches onto Pacquiao.”

Yes, if Mosley can put hands on Pacquiao and punch him hard he may be able to get a win somehow. He’s got to hit Pacquiao hard around the eyes and hope that he can cut him up. A bleeding Pacquiao is a vulnerable Pacquiao. Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, is going to be telling him to hit and run to avoid getting hit. This was the strategy that Pacquiao used in the last half of his fight with Antonio Margarito after Pacquiao got hurt with a hard body shot. Roach had Pacquiao hitting and moving and it worked well for him.

Mosley may have to chase Pacquiao down to land his power shots. I don’t like Mosley’s chances of winning if he has to pursue Pacquiao because Mosley proved bad at chasing down Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sergio Mora in his last two fights when both of them moved around in circles. Mosley’s wheels don’t work as good as they used to and he didn’t seem to have the ability to cut off the ring to force them to fight.
