By Sean McDaniel: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) had a lot to say in a recent interview at radio.thescore.com, taking about his next Super Six opponent Glen Johnson, who Froch faces on June 4th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Froch also spoke on his former promoter Mick Hennessy, Andre Ward, Sergio Martinez, Sky Sports and Lucian Bute.

Starting with promoter, Froch said that one of his reasons for leaving Hennessy was because he wasn’t getting the kind of exposure that he wanted to in the UK. Froch said that he plans on getting another promoter once the Super Six tournament ends. He says he’ll find one of the younger promoters in England to start promoting him once the tourney ends.

Froch revealed that his fight with the 42-year-old Johnson has a very good chance of winding up on Sky Sports TV. This would be a huge plus for Froch, because his fights have been largely ignored by the network up until now for some reason despite him finding all kinds of success. When you look at what WBA light heavyweight champion Amir Khan has done and then compare it to Froch, it doesn’t make sense that Khan’s fights were on the network while Froch’s were ignored.

Froch said this about watching video of Johnson: “I’ve been looking at early Johnson and late Johnson. Obviously, the later Johnson isn’t as lively or busy or as ferocious as the early Johnson…I’ve got age on my side. I’m looking to do a number on Johnson.”

Froch has a really tough fight ahead of him with Johnson, but he realizes that he can’t overlook him and will be making sure he’s ready for that bout.

Froch thinks that Andre Ward could lose his next fight to Arthur Abraham because of Ward’s lack of power. Froch thinks that if Abraham can walk through Ward’s feather dusters than he could land a big shot to take him out. “He [Ward] could get flattened. I’m hoping he [Abraham] wears him out a bit.

Speaking about Sergio Martinez, Froch said “If Martinez could come up to super middleweight, I’d love that fight. He deserves respect but I’d beat him in style.”

Martinez likely won’t be moving up in weight to super middleweight because he’s not a big middleweight and asking him to come up to Froch’s weight isn’t very realistic. Froch likely won’t be in the running for a fight against Martinez if Froch loses to Johnson or Ward in the Super Six.

Talking about Bute, Froch said “I’m not a big fan of Lucian Bute. Hw can he be ranked above me.”
