Froch says he should be fighting Johnson in Nottingham, not Atlantic City

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) isn’t a happy camper after learning this his next Super six tournament fight against 42-year-old Glen Johnson (51-14-2, 35 Ko’s) will be taking place at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey instead of Froch’s home city of Nottingham, England.

At first Froch appeared to be taking the news well without complaining or making a big fuss about it. But it looks like Froch is starting to change his tune about the venue, saying this in an article at thisisnottingham.co.uk: “It’s not ideal. I should be fighting in Nottingham, but what can I do? The venue isn’t great, it holds about 2800, when I could be fighting in front of a full house in Nottingham.”

It is what it is. Showtime is calling the shots in the Super Six tournament and Froch should understand that by now. He already fought once in Nottingham and got what many people consider to be a gift 12 round decision over the talented Andre Dirrell. Froch should be happy that he got that win because I have a hard time seeing Froch beating Dirrell anywhere else but Nottingham. Does Froch feel he needs Nottingham to beat Johnson? I’m starting to wonder about Froch’s confidence. I hope he doesn’t get beat and then claim he should have won like with his loss to Mikkel Kessler. Froch lost that fight but feels he should have won it. If Froch can’t beat the 42-year-old Johnson then he may need to do some re-thinking about his career.
