Image: Mosley committed to knocking Pacquiao outBy Chris Williams: 39-year-old Shane Mosley doesn’t just want to beat Manny Pacquiao on May 7th in their mega fight in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mosley wants to win beyond any doubt by knocking the Filipino out in front of a worldwide audience and then moving on to an bigger rematch with him.

Speaking with fighthype.com, Mosley said “I’m determined to knock Pacquiao out. I’m determined to shock the world.” Mosley has been said to be looking incredible during his sparring sessions, much better than he’s looked in the recent past before his fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sergio Mora. That’s not good news for Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum, because some people feel that Mosley was chosen at this point in his career because he’s recently been looking shot.

Pacquiao has been beating up his opposition with ease in the past three years with wins over Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Joshua Clottey, Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. Those are good fighters, but each of them were flawed in their own ways by the time that Pacquiao fought them. Mosley, in his prime, was a level above all of them. The question now is whether Mosley has found the fountain of youth to get close to where he once was in his prime of his career. If Mosley has somehow found his way back to what he once was, Pacquiao could be in big trouble on May 7th and may end up getting knocked out like Shane is hoping. This actually would be good for boxing to see Pacquiao lose because we could see some interesting fights like a rematch with Mosley-Pacquiao and maybe some intriguing fights between Pacquiao and Saul Alvarez and Sergio Martinez. I can see Pacquiao losing to Martinez and Alvarez.
