Image: Klitschko disappoints, Solis deserves a rematchBy Dave Lahr: The German crowd in Cologne, Germany this past weekend were steamed at the ending of the Vitali Klitschko vs. Odlanier Solis, unhappy with the quick 1st round ending when Solis hurt his right leg from a shot to the top of his head. It wasn’t Solis’s fault that the fight ended so quickly. He fought bravely, won majority of the 1st round with his amazing boxing skills, speed, combination punching and movement.

The ending of the fight was just something that happened, but there’s no getting around the fact that Solis was doing well against Vitali at the time the injury occurred. The fight itself needs to be changed from a 1st round KO and changed to a no contest because Solis wasn’t hurt and fell because his leg gave out on him. This is hardly a win in my view because Solis was hurt from his leg, not from a punch.

I doubt that Vitali will give Solis a rematch unfortunately, but he needs to if he wants to please his loyal boxing fans who paid all that money to come see his fight. They went home disappointed with the outcome. By fighting Solis again when his leg heals up in nine months to one year, Vitali would be going a long ways towards proving he’s a good one and is willing to please his loyal boxing fans. The money will be there for a rematch because fans will want to see this fight again because of how well Solis was handling Vitali at the time the bout was stopped due to the injury. I hope Vitali does the right thing and gives Solis his much deserved rematch so that the Cuban can prove that he’s the better fighter.
