By Gerardo Granados: Floyd Mayweather is great boxer, he is the master of defensive style…. but is he worth 100 million dollars for the Manny Pacquiao fight? As a human been has a lot of failures and has made a lot of mistakes. He should have keep quiet instead of making those arrogant statements he has done in the past.

We all have seen hundred million dollar players who secure a ridiculous contract to play ten years a “sport”, at the end they become a merchandise product and top ticket sale men, but to receive one hundred million dollars for “one single” fight is the most crazy thing you will hear. How much did Muhammad Ali or Sugar Ray Robinson asked for in their prime?

Now a days at modern society you can see that the most important values are upside down, money is the primal goal in life, to live a life of excess is highly admired by most members of modern societies. But, is it the way it should be? We have seen hundred million dollar players, but are they worthy of that amount of money?

Floyd has lost contact with reality or he is just simply overpricing himself out of this fight, either way he has put a very cheap price to his pride. Roberto Duran fought against a much bigger, stronger, faster and heavier puncher Thomas Hearns and at the end he was brutally knock out in three rounds but he gained the respect of the boxing world; Duran also fought against Marvin Hagler and lost via unanimous decision but again got the respect from the audience. As I stated in a previos article, what if Meldrick Taylor had avoided Julio Cesar Chavez? Fernando Montiel was hammered by Nonito Donaire and knowledge his defeat. Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather said he would easily beat Congressman Manny Pacman Pacquiao, he also insulted him and defamed him; but he has done every thing to avoid fighting against a smaller opponent. Now it has been reported that he has asked one hundred million dollars to fight Pacman, and perhaps that is not the most ridiculous thing you will hear from him in the near future.

Professional boxing is a business but part of it is the pride and bravery of the fighters involved, have you seen the pride that most or fighters show, not only the ones that lead a Las Vegas card, no not them, the ones that fight in the small cities around the world; these warriors get in to the ring to prove they are the best, they climb in to the ring to defeat his rival and certainly wont collect a big check by doing so. Pride has no price, either you have it or you don’t. You play a game to win, you fight to win because you want the fame and glory, of course if you can make tons of money doing so it would be great; but to pretend to be worthy of a big payday just because you are self conceited and arrogant it’s a shame.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao could generate enormous pay per view numbers and might achieve one hundred million in buys. What if the winner takes it all?

It is time for Floyd to make up his mind, not to decide what is it he wants to do with his boxing career but to grow as a human been and to achieve important things in life, to give love to the ones he loves and to help the ones he knows he can help. I wish the best for Mr. Floyd Mayweather Jr., and hope he can find hapiness and to be satisfied with his big success and that he realize that there are other things more important than money.
