By Jim Dower: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) looks set to face Tomasz Adamek (43-1, 28 KO’s) in September unless WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) steps in and agrees to fight Wladimir for this date. In that case, Vitali Klitschko, the WBC heavyweight champion and brother of Wladimir, wills step forward and take on Adamek in one of the newly created soccer stadiums, in Poland. Adamek has a fight coming up on April 16th against Kevin McBride (35-8-1, 29 KO’s) in Poland.

This is a pretty save fight for Adamek because the 37-year-old McBride has lost four out of his last five bouts against 2nd tier opposition. If Adamek losses to McBride, the fight with one of the Klitschkos are off. Adamek has to beat McBride to get to the Klitschkos. By the same token, at least one of the Klitschko brothers need to win their interim fights against Dereck Chisora and Odlanier Solis.

These are both difficult fights for the Klitschkos because both of these fighters bring ingredients that are lethal for each one of the Klitschko brothers. Wladimir would likely do a lot better against the short and slow Solis than the quicker, harder to hit Chisora. Vitali would do better against Chisora because of his strong chin and his style of fighting that makes his chin hard to hit because of his leaning back style.

The Adamek fight will bring good money for one of the Klitschko brothers, but not the kind of money that would be brought in for a Haye-Klitschko fight. That fight is the one that both of the Klitschko brothers are shooting for before Haye retires in October 2011, if he’s really serious about wanting to retire.
