Roach: “His [Mosley] speed and power will make him dangerous” for Pacquiao

By Chris Williams: Both Bob Arum and Freddie Roach are building up Shane Mosley like no tomorrow ahead of the May 7th fight against their fighter Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s almost as if Arum and Roach are working as press agents for Mosley, because they are working overtime to try and make it seem as if he’s got a real chance in this fight. They’re really complimenting Mosley like no one I’ve seen before.

In an article by Roberto Morales at the dailybreeze, Roach said “His [Mosley] speed, his power, make him dangerous. Of course, he’s got a great fight hand, something that we did have trouble with in the past getting away from. And he’s a very intelligent fighter.”

Arum had his own kind things to say about Mosley, saying “Styles make fights. He [Mosley] will struggle against fighters who play defense and run around the ring. He does better against fighters who like to fight, like he did against Antonio Margarito.”

Boy, Arum and Roach are really building up Mosley something fierce. You know things are a little funny when those guys do an about face and start pumping up the opponent of their number #1 cash cow fighter. This has the makings up a mismatch and it seems completely strange to see Arum and Roach talking about how great Mosley is instead of their own fighter. What does that tell you? For me, I see it as them knowing it’s a mismatch and they’re going to do whatever they can to give the illusion of this being a competitive fight.
