Montiel vs. Donaire: Fernando is going to spoil Nonito’s coming out party

By Dave Lahr: Nonito Donaire (25-1, 17 KO’s) thinks this Saturday’s fight is going to be his chance to shine and win new fans when he faces WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel (44-2-2, 34 KO’s) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Instead, it’s going to be a night of pain, suffering and tad bit of humiliation mixed in for Donaire when Montiel gives Nonito a savage beating.

Donaire, 28, is acting as if he’s already won the fight. The guy is carrying himself like he’s going to win and impress in doing so. Unfortunately, things aren’t going to go well for Donaire.

Once Montiel tags Donaire for the first time in the opening round, it’s going to be like someone lit a match under Donaire’s backside that’s going to send him to the moon. He isn’t going to like the pain of Montiel’s shots.

It’s going to be like getting lashed with a whip each time Montiel lands one of his big shots. Yes, the blood will be pouring from Donaire’s face soon enough. At the first sight of his own blood, Donaire will lose his senses completely and start running in every direction without any real plan.

We’re going to see utter craziness from Donaire, because he’s going to be taking on superior forces and he’s not going to know how to deal with it mentally or physically. It’s hard to say which will be worse – the mental stress or the physical pain that Donaire will be suffering each time Montiel lands one of his bunch crunching shots.

If Donaire stays on his feet for 12 rounds, we’re going to see the nose broken, the lips busted, both eyes cut to ribbons and his face swollen to angry red mass. Hopefully, the referee will step in at some point and halt the massacre rather than allow Donaire to continue to get lashed round after round without stop.
