Klitschko-Solis: Odlanier can beat Vitali by backing him up

By Dave Lahr: Unbeaten Cuban heavyweight Odlanier Solis (17-0, 12 KO’s) knows every trick in the book in how to beat an opponent. Solis has been boxing since he was a young boy in Cuba and has forgotten more about boxing than most fighters can ever hope to know. Solis is facing a big fighter in WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 38 KO’s) on March 19th at the Lanxess-Arena, Cologne, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

Solis isn’t worried or the least bit afraid of the big 6’7” Ukrainian, because he realises that Vitali has no speed and doesn’t react quick enough when under attack. But more than that, Vitali can’t fight when being backed up. He shuts down and stumbles for lack of good footwork. Solis intends on getting Vitali to back up, as he’s seen Vitali’s loss to Chris Byrd and has seen how Vitali came unglued when the Byrd man came forward and had Vitali retreating to avoid getting hit.

Byrd ended up taking the fight out of Vitali, causing him to quit in the 9th round in what had to have been a humiliating experience for Vitali. Solis knows that Vitali shuts down when a fighter puts their punches together by throwing multiple combinations. Solis isn’t going to make the mistakes of the vast majority of Vitali’s opponents by throwing only one punch at a time.

He’s going to open up with a lot of punches and try to overwhelm Vitali’s defense. We may see Vitali even quit if Solis really gets his offense going. Although Vitali won’t officially quit, it will be some kind of injury that will pop up out of the blue when he’s taking a beating by Solis.
