Pacquiao vs. Mosley: Good for Shane but wrong for Manny

By Dan Henderson: Looking at the upcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley on May 7th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada, how can the 39-year-old Mosley win this fight? Answer is he won’t. I know it, you know it and even Shane knows it.

For Shane, this could be one big payday, his last hoorah even. You can’t blame the man for taking this fight as it will make him a lot of money. But for Pac-man, this is just another Arum/Roach cherry-picked money spinning fight.

How long are we going to have to put up with Pac fighting these mismatch fights? We want to see him in the ring with someone who might pose him a threat but no doubt that won’t happen for a while yet. I believe he hasn’t fought anyone of any ilk or in their prime for a long time. I want to see the Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight, even though I do believe Pac would win this fight quite comfortably but the public would like to see it as well. Another fight I would also be the Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight but as we all know that ain’t gonna happen.

I feel this mismatch is good for Mosley as he will make a lot of money. There has been quite surprisingly, I must add, a lot of interest in this fight, but at the age Mosley is how long, can he survive in the ring for? Not that it matters though as I said he knows he won’t win the fight. Look at the way he was out-boxed by Mayweather. It was quite soul destroying. I for one would love to see Mosley upset the odds and roll back the years to win this fight.

After this fight, I want Pacquiao to fight a top opponent. I used to love watching Pacquiao fight but now I don’t because I know he is going to win these fights with ease. But you can’t blame Pacquiao, because he can only beat what is put in front of him.
