Pacquiao to keep fighting after Mosley: Is anyone really surprised?

By Chris Williams: Eight time world champion Manny Pacquiao will reportedly keep fighting after beating the shot-looking 39-year-old Shane Mosley on 5/7. Now is anyone really shocked at this earth shattering news? We already knew that Pacquiao was going to keep fighting because he’s waiting around hoping to get a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., even though Pacquiao already had the perfect opportunity to fight him last year and blew it by not agreeing to take the blood tests up until 14 days before a fight with Mayweather.

Bob Arum is going to keep Pacquiao fighting long after the Mosley fight, possibly get another three to four years out of Pacquiao before he retires. At three fights per year over beat up and weight drained guys, I can see Pacquiao winning between nine and twelve more fights and going through his last years without suffering a loss.

Of course, if Mayweather decides to step in and fight Pacquiao at any point during this time, you’re going to see Pacquiao take the whipping of his life because he doesn’t match-up to the talent that Mayweather has. But if you put Pacquiao with Top Rank stable fighters like Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito and Joshua Clottey, he’s going to win every time out. Put Pacquiao in with one of those guys and add a nice weight draining catch weight handicap, and Pacquiao is going to win 100% of the time.

But if Arum changes things around and decides to put Pacquiao in with Juan Manuel Marquez, Andre Berto and Sergio Martinez, we’ll likely see the losses for Pacquiao happening one after another. Arum likely won’t match his number #1 cash cow Pacquiao tough, though, so you can expect him to finish up with nothing but wins before retiring in three to four more years.
