Image: Is Khan ducking Prescott rematch?By William Mackay: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) is in need of fighter that is known not only in the UK but also in the United States for his next fight on April 16th. Dan Rafael said on his chat session today that he thinks HBO would agree to Breidis Prescott being Khan’s next opponent on 4/16 and would show that fight in a second on their network. Yet instead of Khan looking to fight a rematch with Prescott, Khan and his team are looking to fight obscure UK fighters Paul McCloskey, John Murray and Lamont Peterson, an American that got a gift 10 round draw in his last fight against Victor Ortiz.

So is Khan ducking Prescott or not? And what’s the fear of facing him? And most of all, why are Khan’s British fans so against him facing Prescott again and trying to avenge the defeat to him? These fans often say that Khan has nothing to gain from fighting Prescott again and see more benefit of facing McCloskey, who may be ranked high by the WBA, but he’s not considered worth the ranking by fightnews. Khan’s fans often say that he deserves an easy tune-up fight because he got by Marcos Maidana.

These fans are almost like enablers the way that they make excuses for Khan not to have to face someone that would potentially have the chance to knock Khan out like Prescott. If Khan is better than Prescott, like he says he is, why doesn’t he man up and try to prove it for once? It sounds so ridiculous the way that Khan dismisses Prescott as an opponent, saying he would easily beat him now but still not showing that he actually can do this by fighting the guy. I think Khan and his handlers are afraid of Prescott and want no part of the guy.
