By Sean McDaniel: Glen Johnson (51-14-2, 35 KO’s) is one of those fighters those warriors that ages well and is able to fight well below age. Today, Johnson turned 42, and it’s still hard to believe he’s that old given how well he’s still fighting.

Johnson defeated Allan Green by an 8th round TKO in November in his first fight in the Super Six tournament. With the win, Johnson will move onto the semifinals where he’ll be facing World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KO’s) in an important fight to decide who will make it to the finals of the tourney.

Johnson obviously wants to get into the finals so that he can get another nice payday while also proving that he’s one of the best fighters in the super middleweight division.

Before being selected to fight in the Super Six tourney, Johnson’s career at light heavyweight was in doubt, as he had suffered two losses to Chad Dawson and another against Tavoris Cloud in the past year. All of the fights were close, however, but they still were losses none the less.

Being picked for the Super Six tournament as a replacement has seemingly revived Johnson’s career in a huge way. Now all Johnson needs to do is turn around and find a way to defeat Froch. It won’t be easy to do because Froch is a powerful puncher and is an excellent counter puncher as well.

Johnson has some things going for him in this match-up, namely his power and high work rate. Johnson much pressure Froch and try to wear him down in the later rounds.
