The Los Angeles Times are porting that the meeting will be occuring today for what will likely be another huge pay-per-view bout. Mosley is one of three opponents that Arum had been choosing from to face Pacquiao. The other two are Juan Manuel Marquez and Andre Berto.

Mosley has been in the lead position from day one due to his better name recognition value. It hasn’t a popular choice with many boxing fans, who see Mosley as being a shot fighter who doesn’t have the skills anymore to beat the very best fighters in the sport. Mosley fought to a draw with former World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight champion Sergio Mora in September. Before that, Mosley lost a one-sided 12 round decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It wasn’t so much that Mosley lost to Mayweather that was the problem. It was the way that Mosley lost. He just looked tired and old. And in his recent fight against Mora, Mosley didn’t look any better. This leads people to believe that he’s shot given his advanced age of 39, and it doesn’t make some boxing fans happy that Pacquiao would agree to face someone who appears to be on his last legs in the sport.

However, this is a sport about making money, and Mosley is clearly more popular than Berto and Marquez in the U.S. Because of that, Arum and Pacquiao will make more money in a fight against Mosley, even if it’s not a fight that will be thrilling to watch due to the one-sided nature of the bout. Mosley and Pacquiao appear to be going in different directions. Mosley seems to be going down hill, while Pacquiao is still fighting on the same high level he always had.
