Marquez hurt Katsidis with a nice shot in the 9th and then teed off on him with power shots until referee Kenny Bayless put a stop to the slaughter with Katsidis still cogent and on his feet. It was a nice stoppage by Bayless, because it was sad to see Antonio Margarito take a needless pounding 12 rounds recently against Manny Pacquiao while every stood by just letting it happen.

Speaking about Pacquiao, it looks like his promoter Bob Arum wants no part of putting Pacquiao in with Marquez. How come I’m not surprised? The key here was Marquez looked good against Katsidis. That told me right there that Marquez wasn’t going to win the fight with Pacquiao, because the guys that Pacquiao has been fighting starting with the Oscar De La Hoya fight, have either looked totally shot or had come off a furious beating, the kind that often is career changing for the worse. The guy that Arum is leaning towards putting in with Pacquiao is 40ish Shane Mosley, who is fighting quite badly if I do say so.

Mosley fought to a questionable 12 round draw in his last fight against Sergio Mora and got totally dominated by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May. Mosley looks about as bad as a fighter can look right now and still be considered a contender. And what does that get him? You guessed it, a shot against Pacquiao. That’s so sad. I hope Arum changes his mind and does the right thing and puts Pacquiao in with Marquez, so that fans can at least see Pacquiao in with someone that has a chance to beat him for a change. I don’t see that happening. Marquez is still too young and still fighting too good. He may have blew it by being too impressive against Katsidis.
