Image: Froch still harping about the Kessler fight, and still thinks he wonBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) just can’t seem to accept the fact that he got spanked by Mikkel Kessler in his last fight in April. In today’s press conference, Froch spent a good deal of time talking about the Kessler fight instead of his upcoming November 27th bout against Arthur Abraham. I don’t know what it is about Froch, but the guy can’t grasp that he got totally outclassed in that fight and outworked.

Froch likes to say that fans back him in the belief that he should have beaten Kessler. Other than his loyal British fans, I can’t see anyone else that thinks Froch won. He just needs to accept his defeat and take it like a man. This is why Abraham thinks Froch is mentally troubled and not over the loss.

Here is what Froch had to say about Kessler today: “Quite frankly it was a very close fight and I should have won. I take a lot of confidence from my fight against Kessler. I sent Mikkel Kessler into retirement with that fight. And now I’m fighting to get my title back. As far as I’m concerned I defended my title against Kessler and I’m defending it again against Abraham. So nothing’s changed. I don’t feel like that fight did enough to take away my confidence. I lost a very, very close fight. Eighty-five percent of the people thought I won the fight. And that’s not just Carl Froch fans. That’s people in America and people in England and all the boxing people.”

Froch sounds delusional. 85% believe he beat Kessler? This is hilarious. Froch must be talking about his loyal British fans in Nottingham, because I still haven’t seen one American or anyone else outside of the UK that thinks Froch should have won that fight. Froch thinks he sent Kessler into retirement. What a joke. The last time I checked Kessler wasn’t retired. And it was the talented Andre Ward who caused Kessler’s eye problems, not Froch. Kessler was already injured before the Froch fight, yet he was still able to soundly beat Froch by a 12 round unanimous decision even with limited vision.

I see Froch getting beaten again on November 27th. Abraham has too much power, and Froch is simply too hittable and wide open on defense to win this fight. He’s like a dream opponent for Abraham. It’s like serving up a homerun pitch to a slugger. Abraham is going to tee off on Froch when he sees how wide open he is.
