Froch looks scared during staredown with Abraham – News

By Scott Gilfoid: At today’s press conference between Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham in Helsinki, Finland, Froch looked decidedly scared when he and Abraham were asked to come together for a stare down. While Abraham was standing waiting for Froch to stand and start with the staring, a scared looking Froch was busy showing his nervousness by messing with his sleeves and shirt. It was like watching a nervous little schoolboy trying to collect himself for his first speech.

Abraham didn’t move a muscle during the stared own, while Froch was swaying back and forth like a drunk during the stare down. Froch looked like he wanted to jump out of the situation and wish himself to some other place. Abraham really had Froch looking like a timid rabbit during that stare down. Abraham was totally intense, like he wanted to take off Froch’s head right then and there. Froch seemed to be trying to compensate for his fear by putting on a front of courage, but it looked so transparent it wasn’t even funny.

I think Abraham is going to knock Froch’s head clean off on Saturday night in their Super Six tournament fight. Abraham has badly hurt his last two opponents, putting them both in the hospital. Froch is a lot easier to hit and he’s going to be getting served up by Abraham on Saturday night.

Froch still can’t let go of the fact that he was beaten in his last fight by Mikkel Kessler. Froch still thinks he should have won the fight, and keeps talking about it all the time. Abraham, in turn, thinks Froch is mentally ill in the way that he can’t acknowledge his loss and the way that he keeps talking about the fight without letting the experience go and learning from it.

Froch says “If come of the tournament without winning it [his WBC title] I would feel naked. But don’t forget I am still very much in this tournament. When I beat Abraham I will get my WBC belt back and then I will fight later for the WBA title. I still have everything to fight for.”

It sounds like Froch is trying to give himself a pep talk going into this fight. He doesn’t have a chance against WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward, so Froch might as well not even mention that fight. That’s a sure fire loss for Froch. He needs to focus instead on trying to get out of this fight in one piece without getting knocked out. That’s my advice for him.
