Chisora might ruin Haye’s chance at a fight with Wladimir Klitschko

By Dave Lahr: Unbeaten Derek Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) my ruin WBA heavyweight champion David Haye’s chance at getting a hold of IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) next year by beating him on December 11th when they meet up at the SAP-Arena, Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Chisora, 26, may not have Haye’s hand speed, power or silky moves, but he’s more than powerful enough to knock Wladimir out and take his titles from before Haye ever gets a chance at him.

In some ways, Chisora is even better than Haye because he’s not shy about attacking from the very get go and he’s hard to hit. Wladimir, a tall heavyweight who lacks coordination, will have problems landing his shots with Chisora’s head movement and high guard. This is going to be a case of Wladimir picking the wrong opponent again like he did when he chose Lamon Brewster, Ross Puritty and Corrie Sanders, all of who knocked him out. Chisora has a great chance of doing exactly what those fighters did with Wladimir.

Right now, Wladimir is considered by some boxing fans to be invincible because of his wins over a handful of flawed fighters. Wladimir’s wins over guys like Eddie Chambers, Samuel Peter and Sultan Ibragimov doesn’t impress me, because those guys aren’t a good measuring stick of Wladimir’s talent. I see the guy as basically unchanged from his losses to Purtty, Brewster and Sanders. All Chisora has to do is go straight at Wladimir immediately, stay low and head hunt all the way. Chisora will hit pay dirt in the first two rounds if he stays on course and doesn’t waste time trying to box with Wladimir.

Once Chisora gets by Wladimir, he fight his brother Vitali Klitschko and give him the same kind of treatment he gave Wladimir. Both of those guys are ready to be dusted off and send into retirement.
