Froch’s poor defense will get him knocked out by Abraham

By Scott Gilfoid: I know former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) thinks it’s impossible for him to get knocked out, but I think he’s going to be getting a good dose of reality when Armenian Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) knocks him clean out on November 27th in their stage 3 Super Six tournament bout at the Hartwell Arena, in Helsinki, Finland.

Abraham was already exposed by Andre Dirrell in his loss in March, but this isn’t Dirrell that Abraham will be facing in November. Froch is like the complete opposite of Dirrell in almost every category, and I mean that in a negative sense.

Froch will get himself knocked out by his mistakes that he makes against Abraham more than anything. Froch is one of those fighters that fails to recognize his many flaws and because of that he doesn’t correct any of them. The one major flaw that Froch has is tendency to fight with his front left hand down by his waist.

This allows his opponents to hit him with pretty much anything they throw. Dirrell capitalized on Froch’s low guard repeatedly in their fight last year in October, as he tagged him with left hooks and lead right hands to the head. You’d think that Froch would have gotten a clue and started protecting his head after his life and death fight with Jermain Taylor a year ago in April.

Froch was a completely unchanged fighter from that bout to his fight with Dirrell. Froch won the Dirrell fight after two European judges scored it for Froch. The bout took place in Froch’s home city of Nottingham, England.

Froch took his bad habits into the Mikkel Kessler fight last April, and finally paid a price by losing the fight by a 12 round decision. You would think that this would be a wake-up call for Froch to try and fix his defense, but my guess is Froch will be the same fighter he’s always been when he takes on Abraham next month.

I think Froch’s inability to change will get him knocked out by Abraham. I just hope Froch doesn’t get fouled like Dirrell did or badly hurt. Abraham has the kind of power that can end a fighters career with one punch, and with Froch walking forward all the time with both arms down by his sides, he could end up being taken out of the ring on a stretcher.
