Haye: “I’m the most devastating fighter on the planet”

Image: Haye: “I’m the most devastating fighter on the planet”By Scott Gilfoid: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (24-1, 22 KO’s) appears to be suffering from delusions of grandeur as he started melting down and bragging about himself at his press conference with Audley Harrison (27-4, 20 KO’s) today. I could see a little bragging if Haye had been backing it up against good fighters, but the dude has been taking on nothing but old guys and side stepping the Klitschko brothers as if they had the plague.

This is what Haye had to say about his fight with Audley:

“Once the bell rings I’m the most devastating fighter on the planet — and Audley knows that. My right hand is faster than Audley’s left, it’s as simple as that. He’ll never be able to step foot in Britain again after this fight. He’ll f*** off back to Los Angeles and never be heard of again. I kicked his arse in sparring and I can do that any time. I can beat him at anything. Seeing him stretched out on the canvas for the final time is exactly what I want. I’m going to break him down and embarrass him.”

The way Haye’s talking you’d think he’s fighting someone that’s actually good instead of an opponent that Haye cherry-picked out of the bunch to fight. He sees himself as the most devastating fighter on the planet, eh? How come he won’t fight the Klitschko brothers then?

If he’s devastating, why won’t he fight Samuel Peter? The list goes on and on. He’s just fighting a bunch of old guys all the time, and Brits love him for some reason. It just shows you that there’s not a lot of heavyweight talent in the UK for the fan base over there to get exciting about this fight.

Harrison said “I’ve seen f****** cruiserweights put you down. Even going back I’ve seen light-heavyweights put you down.”

Harrison is telling the truth. Haye’s been getting knocked for a while now by smaller fighters.

Harrison must have gotten to Haye with that comment, because Haye went off the boxing category and started talking other stuff, saying “I am a better athlete, I can run faster, I can jump higher.” Haye sounds like a little kid saying that kind of stuff. Why couldn’t Haye just stay on topic and stick to boxing? Harrison got to him.

Looking at the two fighters standing eye to eye, there’s no way that Haye is 6’3″. Harrison is listed as 6’4 1/2″, but in the photos of the two standing next to each other, Harrison looks to be at least four inches taller. Haye looks to be a shade over 6′ foot tall but that’s about it. He’s really small for a heavyweight.
