Froch: “Abraham is gonna get pounded”

By Scott Gilfoid: Former World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) sounds like he’s been rubbed rough by some of the comments that former middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) has been saying about him in regards to Froch being messed up mentally from his loss to Mikkel Kessler in April and questioning Froch’s recent back injury. Froch and Abraham will be fighting on November 27th at the Hartwall Arena, in Helsinki, Finland.

In an article by Livefight.com, Froch says “Abraham is gonna get pounded. You can be damn sure of that. The fact he’s saying that I’ve lost my head, actually gives me a lot of confidence. The bottom line is, I went toe to toe in Kessler’s back yard against a man fighting for his life, Kessler was fighting for his whole livelihood. Sure the decision didn’t go my way but I came out of that fight with respect from everyone who witnessed it.”

I saw the fight and I wasn’t in the least impressed with Froch’s performance. He looked lazy and tired by the 6th round. Froch wasn’t even attacking Kessler. It was Kessler who was doing all the attacking until late in the fight when Froch desperately was trying to rally to try and score a knockout. He lost the fight by a 12 round decision and he deserved to lose for not fighting hard for the full 12 rounds.

The way Froch fought in that fight, I can see a lot of super middleweights beating him on that night, and I’m not just talking about fighters in the Super Six tournament.

Froch says “It’s not a cake walk to step out in front of 12,000 odd crazy Vikings and try to punch holes in their hero. But afterwards the Dane’s knew that I was no joke.” Man, that sounds like Froch is making excuses for his loss. The dude needs to accept that he got beaten. It doesn’t matter how many fans were in the arena rooting against him. Froch got beat by the better man – it’s as simple as that.

“I’m going to stuff him like a chicken… obstinate midget,” Froch says. I think Froch won’t be able to back up his big talk. It doesn’t matter that Froch is a little bit taller than Abraham, because the Armenian hits harder and will have plenty of opportunities to land his big bombs with Froch’s wide open defense on November 27th. I see Froch getting knocked out in five or six rounds at best. He’s going to go in and fight angry and get knocked out by Abraham.
