Image: Abraham: “It looks like He [Froch] has lost his senses”By Scott Gilfoid: Germany’s Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) questions whether his next Super Six tournament opponent former World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) still has his head together after his crushing 12 round unanimous decision loss to Mikkel Kessler on April 24th, in Denmark. Froch, 33, has been bitterly complaining about the loss for months without moving on and letting it go and Abraham now wonders whether Froch is still haunted mentally from that devastating defeat at the hands of Kessler. Abraham had this to say about Froch’s mental psyche in a press release sent out today: “He [Froch] claimed to have problems with his back. I think he has even bigger problems with his head. Judging from his dubious comments, it looks as if he has lost his senses. But I will be more than happy to put him back to reality with my fists come November 27. I look forward to fighting in Helsinki, and will promise fight fans in Finland and all over the world an explosive evening.”

Is what Abraham says about Froch true? Could Froch have lost his senses and slipped some mental gears because of his loss to Kessler. I really hope not. I wanted Froch to be altogether mentally and physically for this fight so that there would be no excuses about ailments of any kind. If Abraham destroys Froch with a single punch, I want it to be against a perfectly cogent Froch, not one that’s living in the past about a defeat and not concentrating on the present reality. I’d like for Froch to get past Abraham so that Andre Dirrell and him can complete their unfinished business from their first fight a year ago in the Super Six tournament. Froch won that fight by a controversial 12 round split decision, but many fans felt that Dirrell should have won the fight. Hopefully, if Froch can keep from getting knocked cold by Abraham on November 27th, he can make it to the semifinals against Dirrell, if he beats Andre Ward in his next fight.
