Shaw thinks Bradley will do really well against Alexander after watching how good Kotelnik did against him

By Dan Ambrose: Gary Shaw, the promoter of World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, likes his fighters chances against IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander if they’re able to get a fight lined between them. In an article by Dan Rafael of ESPN, Shaw says “If a very slow Kotelnik can keep hitting Alexander, can you imagine how many times Timmy [Bradley] will hit him, and the damage that Timmy will do to him?”

Alexander, 23, didn’t exactly impress with his 12 round unanimous decision win over Andriy Kotelnik on Saturday night at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri. Alexander won the fight by the scores of 116-112 on all three score cards. However, after Alexander appeared to win the first couple of rounds of the fight, he struggled through the remainder of the rounds, looking worse and worse with each progressing rounds. By the 4th round on, it was all Kotelnik dominating the fight. However, the bout took place in Alexander’s home city of Saint Louis, and as such, Kotelnik had that going after him last night.

Alexander will now be looking to fight Bradley next in a big fight that will be shown on HBO. It’s a fight that the network badly wants to put together, as they see it as being something boxing fans will want to see. They may want to see it, but probably not as much as they previously did after seeing how poorly Alexander looked in facing Kotelnik.

The winner of the Alexander-Bradley fight could find himself in a position to fight either Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr. In theory, that’s the idea, but in reality it’s hard to see Pacquiao and Mayweather fighting the winner of the Alexander-Bradley fight. The winner of that fight will still be far from being a mega star and it’s likely going to be Bradley who wins that fight based on his superb boxing skills. I don’t know that Mayweather and Pacquiao are looking forward to fighting a boxer like Bradley. He’s tough and has skills what would make it tough on any of his opponents.
