Image: Haye vs. Harrison likely: Appreciate this fightBy Joe Mitchell: World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion David Haye (24-1, 22 KO’s) is likely to defend his title in the coming months against none other than the controversial 2000 Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison (27-4, 20 KO’s) who has finally got in a great position for at shot at world honours. Harrison hasn’t really earned it in the ring but the trash talk, him being well known and being British, has really had Sky wanting to stage this British heavyweight world title fight. Although it is a mismatch the build up will be classic, with both Haye and Harrison having digs at each other, and they will be on every British television show selling the fight to the maximum. The fact is this fight will shed in loads the money and that’s boxing.

Haye was expected to fight one of the Klitschko brothers. But that hasn’t happen due to Haye apparently ducking out, but I won’t go into that. But because of the long negotiations and Haye rejecting the contract, he has been slated badly and lost respect from a lot of boxing people. So now the damage is done why not get a payday and fight Harrison in a fight that shouldn’t last more than 3 rounds? I would. Haye could fight someone like Ruslan Chageav or Tomasz Adamek but make less money, but I think his team will see the money Haye vs. Harrison will bring in and it will be a no brainer.

Onto the fight and I would expect big David Haye knockout early but stranger things have happened like the Klitschko brothers posing naked together in a photo shoot. But there is always excitement in David’s fights with his suspect chin and aggressive style, Harrison could pull off one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. I think there should be some respect given because both these guys will throw bombs from the start and putting it all on the line and in this era it is rare in such a big fight.

I am looking forward to this fight being announced. Try and put Haye versus one the Klitschkos to the back of your mind for the time being; It will happen eventually, I would put my house on that. Just enjoy some of the best trash talking ever and a short but exciting world heavyweight title fight. Then after, you can get on bandwagon about Haye if he doesn’t fight a Klitschko. Remember is there really much difference between Shannon Briggs vs. Vitali Klitschko and Sam Peter vs. Wladimir Klitschko; all 3 are mismatches.
