Green, 30, was beaten in his last fight against Andre Ward in his first fight of the Super Six tournament. That was a rude greeting for the blistering fast Green, but he’s going to learn from that defeat and fix the mistakes that he made in that fight.

Like light heavyweight Chad Dawson, Green’s major mistake in his recent loss was his failure to let his hands go with regularity. Instead of throwing 50 to 60 power shots per round, Green was averaging around 10. He just looked intimidated by the whole event and didn’t do what he knows how to do in that fight. However, if there’s any fighter that can fix his mistakes, it’s Green.

To listen to Green talk, he sounds more articulate than 99% of the boxing analysts on HBO and Showtime. With that kind of intelligence working for him, Green has probably already dissected the mistakes that he made in the Ward loss and already corrected them. Green first of all will keep his weight low and prevent himself from having to strip off too much weight as the fight nears.

Against Ward, Green took off too much weight in too short of a time before the fight and ended up weight drained and weak. That was the major problem for him in that fight. That wasn’t Green out there with Ward on that night. That was a weight weakened fighter. However, you can’t tell boxing fans that because they won’t listen.

They’re going to believe that Green was simply overmatched in that fight and see that was the main reason he lost. But that’s not it. The weight was the number #1 reason, and then a bad fighting strategy was the second one. Green should have thrown more punches and that was a clear mistake on his part by not throwing enough shots to be competitive.

Green has got the perfect opponent for him to be facing on September 25th. Kessler has taken beatings in his last two fights in the Super Six tournament against Ward and Carl Froch, and will be coming into this Super Six fight possibly a little punch drunk from all the shots that he’s absorbed in both of those fights.

Kessler’s face has been the frequent home of Ward and Froch for the past two fights, and he’s gotten hit far too much for his own good. In contrast, Green is coming into this fight fairy fresh.

Although he got hit some in the Ward fight, they were mostly weak love taps when Ward was in close and unable to put any real power into the punches. Kessler is going to be in for a big shock at getting hit with the power and the speed of Green. Kessler hasn’t been hit with anyone with the speed and power of a fighter like Green.

Froch showed good power in his fight with Kessler, but he was so painfully slow of hand that the shots had no effect on Kessler. Green’s shots will have an effect on Kessler, because they’re going to be delivered with so much speed.
