Image: Froch says Abraham will have “No place to hide”By William Mackay: Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) will be gunning for a knockout win in his next Super Six tournament bout against Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) when he meets him in September sometime in a neutral venue that’s yet to be determined. In an article from thisisnottingham.co.uk yesterday, Froch gave his thoughts about what he plans on doing against the hardest puncher in the Super Six: “Against, me, he’ll have no place to hide as I’m going to take it straight to him Looping shots around his guard to his temple and ribs.“

Well, at least Froch isn’t promising to decapitate Abraham like he was his last opponent Mikkel Kessler in April. Froch lost that fight by a 12 round unanimous decision, but doesn’t think he lost the fight for some reason. Froch feels he would have won the fight had it taken place in his home city of Nottingham, England. Few fans disagree with Froch about that, as he already won a controversial victory in Nottingham in his first fight of the Super Six tournament against American Andre Dirrell last October.

Froch says “I won’t be denied again and he [Abraham] had a tough time against my former stablemate Howard Eastman a few years ago.” I saw the fight, and it five years ago, not a few. I saw Abraham winning a lopsided 12 round decision. I’m not sure what fight Froch is remembering, but the one I saw between Abraham and Eastman was one-sided.

“He’s [Abraham] the kind of knockout artist I like,” Froch says. “But trust me, he strikes no feat in me. I’ve sparred with much heavier and bigger punchers than him. We’ve seen how good my chin is over the last couple of years, but Abraham got his jaw broken by Edison Miranda at middleweight. I’d consider myself a bigger puncher than Miranda.” I don’t think Froch is nearly the puncher Miranda is. And I’d be curious to who Froch has sparred with that is a bigger puncher than Abraham. Unless it’s a heavyweight or a cruiserweight, I kind of doubt that Froch has been in with a puncher that hits harder than Abraham.

Froch says “I want to ensure I inflict a beating on him that will send a loud message out that I will not be denied the Super Six trophy.” I think it’s going to be the opposite way around. I see Froch taking a minor beating before being sent into dream land courtesy of a vicious knockout from Abraham. Froch is too wide open defensively and pretty much tailor made for Abraham’s huge shots.

This is probably going to be the easiest fight of the tournament for Abraham, because Froch doesn’t have the usual caution that normal fighters have when taking on Abraham. Froch will likely go right at him with his hands down by his sides just begging to be tagged by one of Abraham’s power shots. Abraham has badly hurt both of his Super Six tourney opponents Jermain Taylor and Dirrell. Unfortunately for Abraham, he hurt Dirrell with a big shot after he had slipped on the canvas. This resulted in Abraham being disqualified in the 11th round.
