Excuse me, but have you seen David Haye?

Image: Excuse me, but have you seen David Haye?By Joe Sam: He blitzkrieged into the Heavyweight Division. Blasting away at everyone.
Sparing no one. The Klitschko brothers. Everyone. Including the American Heavyweights.

Nope, not with his fists, but with his mouth.

David Haye created quite a buzz in the boxing world. After dominating the Cruiserweight Division, he decided to move up into the Heavyweight Division. He promised the fans great things. Like a slick real estate agent, he was giving the fans visions of a perfect place, a perfect boxing paradise, where only one undisputed champion will rule supreme. Where only a single pair of gloved hands would hold the bowl of the alphabet soup. Where other fighters would stand in line, spoon in hand, waiting for a chance to dip into that alphabet soup of titles.

He saw himself as the huge spark which will ignite the stagnant division.
Well, the spark went more like a kid’s new year sparkler. Only Haye fizzled out quicker.

He created a shortcut to get his way to the WBA belt with all his brash talk. Many thought that getting the belt was his bargaining chip against the Klitschko brothers. A business ploy to have something on the bargaining table. But it seems like Haye just pocketed his chip and walked off, not even getting nowhere near the table.

And now Wladimir Klitschko is defending his IBF belt against mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin after failed attempts to get Haye into the ring with him. Both brothers have called him names and called him out. But with Haye’s last fight with John Ruiz, he must have damaged his hearing, because he doesn’t seem to hear all these call-outs from the Klitschkos. And since Haye’s hearing problem seems serious, it seems like a better idea challenging a tree to a fight.

David Haye is an exciting fighter to watch, no doubt about that. He has the power to hurt and knock out his opponents. The only weakness that most boxing fans see is his chin. Many doubt his capacity to take a punch. But I don’t think it’s the chin that is the problem. Anybody taking a clean punch from a 230 pound heavyweight is bound to get really hurt.

No, its not the chin really, but it’s his stamina. Haye seems to gas out easily. In all his recent fights especially after his move up in weight, he appears to breath more heavily.
His capacity to manage the oxygen in his body.
Air – that is his big problem.

Because inside the ring he gasps a lot for air.
And outside the ring he just blows a lot of air.

Oh and by the way, where is David Haye?
