Did anyone see Cotto’s legs go limp after getting hit with two rights from Foreman?

Image: Did anyone see Cotto's legs go limp after getting hit with two rights from Foreman?By Chris Williams: I was stunned to see Miguel Cotto’s legs turn into wet noodles after Yuri Foreman blasted Cotto with two huge right hands in the 3rd round of their fight on Saturday night. Those shots were beauntiful and Cotto’s reaction to them were worrisome to say the least. Instead of taking the shots like Foreman was doing, Cotto’s legs turned to spaghetti for a fraction of a second. Cotto then backed off to collect himself.

I think Cotto’s ability to take a punch is completely gone from his beatings against Antonio Margarito, Joshua Clottey and Manny Pacquiao. I hope I’m wrong but I think I’m not. I really didn’t learn anything from Cotto’s win over Foreman on Saturday because just when Foreman was starting to give Cotto pure hell with his powerful right hands, Foreman then hurt his right knee in the 7th and was unable to fight effectively after that.

But Cotto showed no defense for Foreman’s right hands. I mean, Foreman was able to clock him with right hands every time he threw them. It’s just too bad the injury occurred because Foreman would have had an excellent chance of taking Cotto out if he had been able to open up with more right hands in the last four rounds of the fight. Cotto’s thick, scarred up eyebrows were just begging to be punches and cut by Foreman. I was frankly surprised that Cotto didn’t get cut as it is. It must have been a minor miracle that he was able to fight for six rounds without getting cut. I don’t count the action in rounds seven through nine, because Foreman was too badly hurt to sit down on his punches by then and was merely limping around the ring, sometimes collapsing and taking one-way punishment.

But I think Cotto is going to be in trouble in his fight if he takes on someone decent. If Cotto fights someone like Alredo Angulo, Manny Pacquiao, Antonio Margarito or Sergio Martinez, I can see Cotto getting knocked out once again. Then all the people, who thought that Cotto was back to where he once because of his Foreman victory, will have to rethink their opinions about him. It’s good that the fight was stopped when it did, because the injury to Foreman’s right knee looked to be severe. But at the same time, I can’t help thinking Cotto would have been taken out if Foreman was healthy enough to go 12 rounds.
