This is one of the fight venues that Froch, 32, has been asking for recently to help ensure that he gets a fair deal from the judges. Froch was beaten by Mikkel Kessler in his last Super Six bout on April 24th, in Kessler’s home country of Denmark.

Although many boxing fans felt that Kessler deserved to get the 12 round unanimous decision in that fight, Froch feels that there was something off with the scoring of that fight and felt that he should have been the one that got the decision. Froch learned later that his next fight of the Super Six tournament against Abraham could possibly be taking place in Berlin, Germany rather than Froch’s home city of Nottingham, England.

Froch immediately said that he wouldn’t be fighting in Germany, and if he was forced to fight there then he would pull out of the Super Six tournament entirely. Since then, there’s been a number of cities in Europe that have been offered to Froch, but he’s turned them all down. He prefers the fight take place in Canada, Nottingham or the United States. For boxing fans, most don’t care where the Abraham-Froch fight takes place, just as long as it does take place.

Froch won his first fight of the Super Six tournament, beating American Andre Dirrell by a controversial 12 round split decision in October 2009. Froch had problems with Dirrell’s elusive style of fighting, and missed often with his shots through the first four rounds of the bout. To many boxing fans, it appeared that Froch lost the first four rounds of the fight because of his inability to lay a glove on Dirrell.

In the 5th, the fight got ugly when Froch suddenly body slammed Dirrell to the canvas. From there, Froch began roughing Dirrell up, hitting him with rabbit punches while in the clinch with him and holding and hitting. The referee seemed to have hands off approach to the fight until taking a point away from Dirrell in the 10th round. This caused Dirrell to lose his temper and he promptly staggered Froch with a series of hard shots. Dirrell appeared to win both the 11th and 12th. However, two of the European judges ended up scoring the fight for Froch, one even gave Froch the 11th and 12th rounds.

In Froch’s second fight of the Super Six tournament against Kessler, Froch had problems with Kessler’s high work rate and hard combinations. Kessler staggered Froch and outworked him in many of the rounds. It was clearly a close fight but most boxing fans felt that Kessler won the fight, because Froch faded during the middle rounds. Froch came on at the very end of the fight, but didn’t do enough to establish any control in the fight.

Abraham took his time in his first fight of the tournament against Jermain Taylor, doing very little until staggering Taylor in the 9th and then coming on in the 12th to stop Taylor with a right hand to the head. In Abraham’s 2nd fight of the Super Six tournament against Dirrell, Abraham again was very economical with his punches and fell way behind in the fight. He attempted to win rounds by fighting hard in the last 20 seconds of every round, but Dirrell was ready for him each time and made Abraham miss with his punches. In the 11th, perhaps out of frustration, Abraham teed off on Dirrell with a big right hand after Dirrell had slipped on the canvas and was in a kneeling position. The punch knocked Dirrell out, but caused the referee to disqualify Abraham.

It’s an interesting match-up between Abraham and Froch, as both like to play it rough at times and both have huge power. Froch usually never backs up and neither does Abraham. This fight could be the equivalent of two bulls ramming each other round after round until one of them is taken out. It’s a hard fight to pick, because both Froch and Abraham are big punchers with sturdy chins.
