Froch, 32, was beaten by Mikkel Kessler by a 12 round unanimous decision on April 24th, in Herning, Denmark. Despite most boxing fans feeling that Froch lost the fight, he still feels he won the fight and believes that the fight results would have been much different had the fight taken place in his home city of Nottingham, where he thinks he would have gotten the decision.

Froch already won his first fight of the Super Six tournament in Nottingham against American Andre Dirrell. Many people outside of the UK feel that Dirrell won the fight and feel that Froch won what is known as a home two decision. Froch doesn’t want to fight in Germany, the country that Abraham lives and fights out of, because he thinks he can’t win a decision there. There has been talk of the fight taking place in a neutral venue in Switzerland.

However, Froch, speaking with Livefight.com, says “We’re exploring all of our options at the moment, but we’ve been in touch with local football grounds in Nottingham with the prospect of putting on this fight in the summer for the fans of Great Britain to get to.” The only question here is whether Froch has the star power big enough to sell out a football stadium in Nottingham? It’s all well and good that he could arrange to have a stadium available for the fight, but a whole different matter if the prospects are dim that he can’t sell it out.

After all, Froch was just beaten by Kessler and he doesn’t have the kind of star power at this point that other fighters like Amir Khan and David Haye both enjoy in the UK. Sauerland, the German promotional company that promotes Abraham, might not agree to a fight in Nottingham if it’s not a sure thing in terms of being able to sell out the stadium. At the same token, Abraham probably isn’t popular enough to sell out a stadium in Germany. Unlike the Klitschko brothers who are selling out stadiums in Germany recently, Abraham is much less popular and has to settle for trying to sell out the much smaller O2 arena in Berlin.

Froch will be much better off if he can get the Abraham fight venue to take place in Nottingham. If the bout takes place in Germany or even Switzerland, its questionable how many of his British fans will make the journey to watch him. There was supposed to be a large amount of Froch’s fans making the journey to Denmark to see his fight against Kessler. However, you could scarcely hear or see any of Froch’s fans on that night. It was pretty much almost entirely a pro-Kessler crowd. Froch is in a must win situation. If he gets beaten by Abraham, then Froch can probably forget about making the semi finals of the Super Six tourney.
