Image: Cotto-Foreman: Is Miguel going to get wiped out again?By William Mackay: Miguel Cotto is practically guaranteeing a win over WBA light middleweight champion Yuri Foreman in their June 5th fight at Yankee Stadium.

If this was two or three years ago, I would completely agree with Cotto and believe that he would have way too much offensive firepower for the light hitting Foreman. However, the man has taken some major beatings in the past two years and nothing is a given with him, no matter who his opponent is.

In this case, Foreman is a decent fighter and one of the best in the light middleweight division. I think he’s not in the top four, but I still think he’s good enough to give Cotto a whole lot of problems on June 5th. Cotto took a ton of punishment in his last fight against Manny Pacquiao, and although Cotto tried to stay away from Pacquiao as much as possible, he still ended up getting tore up in that fight. I think Cotto may have taken too much punishment in three out of the last four fights and I question whether he has anything left at this point to get him through a tough opponent like Foreman.

I don’t care if Foreman can’t punch. He’s still plenty tough and hits hard enough to open the scar tissue around both of Cotto’s eyes. And if Foreman hits Cotto with his head, he could have him bleeding like a stuck pig before long. There’s some fighter that can fight good with blood dripping into their eyes. Cotto, I don’t believe, is one of them. He seems to really struggle when he’s cut and has a look about him that seems to suggest someone who is on the verge of being stopped. Antonio Margarito, Joshua Clottey and Pacquiao all gave Cotto terrific punishment in the past couple of years. I think Cotto is pretty much at the end of his career. I’m not sure why he chose to fight Foreman of all people, but I think it’s a mistake. I don’t see Cotto beating Foreman.
